The Celebration of Romanians in the Czech Republic

PRESS RELEASE

ARRC – Association of Romanians in the Czech Republic organizes in Prague, on September 10, 2023, from 13.30 to 21.00, the Celebration of Romanians in the Czech Republic.

The event will take place at the Ethnographic Section (Musaion) of the Czech National Museum, on the terrace behind the museum in Kinski Park, Prague 5.

The event is funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad of the Romanian Government and is sponsored by the Romanian Embassy in Prague, Prague 5 City Hall, in collaboration with the Czech National Museum – Ethnographic Section MUSAION.

Guests of the celebration: the Ambassador of Romania in Prague, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Prague, the representative of the Department for Romanians Abroad Romania, the representatives of the management of the City Hall of Prague 5, the management of Musaion, the director of ICR Prague, the representative of CIOFF- ČR, the president of IGF international, the representative of Radio Ostrava for traditional culture, several directors of Czech folklore festivals, CEO – OMV ČR, the representative of COCA COLA ČR, Cristiana Chiriță, representing Lentiamo CZ, Mirela Vulpe representing the hair salon The Hair, Maria Torte..

The artistic program will start with the folk song and dance ensemble „Plaiurile Mioriței” from Buzău ( Romania), which will be accompanied by the deputy director of the Buzău County Centre for Culture and Arts, Mrs. Amelia PAPAZISSU, folk artist, declared a Living Human Treasure by UNESCO, specialist in goat hair fabrics and Mr. Emil CIUBOTARU, renowned painter from Buzău. 

On stage will also be members of the band „Moldovans in Prague”, which will perform both dances and ethno songs, Rodica Stegărescu, and the Prague rock band „30 Music Street”.

For children there will be creative workshops in cooking, languages and sports competitions, under adult supervision. The Romanian Children’s Library will also be present at the event with a Romanian language book stand for sale. 

In addition to the programme there will be a raffle with numerous prizes.

Along with the programme presented by folklore and light music bands, a rich offer of traditional Romanian food and drinks will be available to the participants, including Romanian wines, recently awarded with 5 gold and two silver medals at this year’s „Vinařske Litoměřice” competition in Litoměřice, Czech Republic.
